L-075 Para Pleco
L075 Para Pleco – Care Guide & Aquarium Companions
The L075 Para Pleco (Peckoltia sabaji) is a beautiful and highly desirable freshwater pleco known for its yellow-to-tan body covered with distinctive dark spots.
Its attractive pattern, peaceful nature and impressive adult size make it a popular choice among pleco collectors and for larger community aquariums.
Aquarium Care
Tank Size:
A minimum of around 150–200 litres is recommended for an adult L075 Para Pleco. Larger aquariums are preferable when keeping multiple plecos.
Adult Size:
Can reach approximately 20–25 cm.
Water Temperature:
Generally 24°C – 26°C.
pH Range:
Approximately 6.0 – 7.6.
Aquarium Setup
L075 Para Plecos naturally appreciate aquariums with plenty of rocks, wood and hiding areas.
A suitable setup should include:
-
Driftwood
-
Large rocks and smooth stones
-
Pleco caves
-
Shaded hiding areas
-
Strong filtration
-
Good oxygenation
-
Moderate water movement
-
Clean and stable water
Providing several hiding areas is especially important when keeping more than one pleco.
Feeding
L075 Para Plecos are omnivorous and should receive a varied diet.
Suitable foods include:
-
High-quality sinking pleco pellets
-
Algae wafers
-
Spirulina-based foods
-
Shrimp
-
Krill
-
Bloodworms
-
Mussel
-
Frozen foods
-
Zucchini and other suitable vegetables
They should not be expected to survive only on algae or leftover food from other fish.
A varied diet helps maintain healthy growth, colour and body condition.
Behaviour & Temperament
L075 Para Plecos are generally peaceful and can be kept successfully in many community aquariums.
They may become mildly territorial with other plecos, especially around caves and feeding areas.
Providing enough space, caves and separate territories can help reduce aggression.
They are often more active during the evening and night.
Suitable Tank Companions
L075 Para Plecos can generally be kept with:
Tetras • Rasboras • Rainbowfish • Corydoras • Gouramis • Rams • Angelfish • Barbs • Larger Peaceful Cichlids • Shrimp and other compatible community fish
They can also be kept with other plecos when sufficient space, food and hiding areas are available.
Avoid extremely aggressive fish that may continuously attack or stress them.
Breeding
L075 Para Plecos are considered cave-spawning plecos.
Providing suitable caves, excellent water quality and a nutritious diet can encourage natural breeding behaviour.
Males may become more territorial around preferred caves during breeding periods.
Important Note
L075 Para Plecos grow considerably larger than many smaller L-number plecos, so aquarium size should be planned according to their adult size rather than their purchase size.
Strong filtration and regular water changes are important because larger plecos can produce significant waste.
With clean, oxygen-rich water, plenty of rocks and driftwood, suitable caves and a varied diet, the L075 Para Pleco can become an impressive centrepiece bottom-dweller in a freshwater aquarium.
