Java Moss on Pad – Care Guide & Aquarium Compatibility
Java Moss on Pad is a convenient and attractive way to add natural greenery to freshwater aquariums. The moss comes pre-attached to a pad, making it easy to place directly on the aquarium substrate, rocks or hardscape.
It is especially popular in shrimp tanks, nano aquariums, breeding setups and planted community tanks because it provides excellent cover for baby shrimp and fish fry while also creating a natural aquascaping effect.
Aquarium Care
Water Temperature:
Generally 20°C – 28°C.
pH Range:
Approximately 5.5 – 8.0.
Lighting:
Low to moderate lighting is sufficient.
Java Moss is very adaptable and can grow without high-intensity lighting or CO₂ injection.
Placement
Java Moss Pads can simply be placed:
-
On aquarium substrate
-
Between rocks
-
Near driftwood
-
Along the foreground
-
In shrimp breeding areas
-
Around caves and hardscape
Over time, the moss will continue spreading and create a thicker natural carpet.
Growth & Maintenance
Java Moss is relatively easy to maintain and suitable for beginners.
For best growth:
-
Maintain clean and stable water
-
Use low to moderate lighting
-
Provide gentle water circulation
